Everybody has that point in their life where you hit a crossroads and you’ve had a bunch of bad days. And there’s different ways you can deal with it, and the way I dealt with it was I just turned completely to music.

Memorizing him was as easy as knowing all the words to your old favorite song

I like to write songs like no one will ever hear them, I write more honest lyrics that way. I say things I wouldn’t necessarily have said if I was thinking about all the people who would buy it someday. So when I’m writing a song I’m only thinking about the person I’m writing the song to and I try to imagine that this is just a song I’m writing like I’m putting a message in a bottle and throwing it out to the ocean.

Just close your eyes,  the sun is going down. You’ll be alright, no one can hurt you now. Come morning light.  You and I’ll be safe and sound, don’t you dare look out your window, darling, everything’s on fire. The war outside our door keeps raging on. Hold onto this lullaby even when the musics gone, gone…
